A Life Steeped in Sound
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Gabriella’s musical journey began at a young age with the piano. Guided by a natural ear for music, she taught herself to play despite not yet being able to read sheet music. As she moved through grade school, her curiosity deepened into composition, and by age ten she began formal piano studies. It was the saxophone, however, that ultimately captured her heart and became her primary instrument.
Growing up in the Chicago area immersed Gabriella in a rich and diverse music scene from an early age. At thirteen, she attended a jazz summer camp at Northern Illinois University—an experience that sparked a deep connection to jazz and its culture, and reshaped her understanding of how music can be expressed, heard, and experienced.
Now based in Paris, Gabriella is an active performer on the international jazz scene. She leads her own jazz quartet and regularly performs as a sidewoman on a wide range of projects, collaborating across genres and borders in both Europe and the United States. She has appeared at some of the world’s largest music festivals, including Festival Mawazine in Rabat, Morocco, and has shared the stage with notable musicians such as Tim Hayward, Rick Margitza, and Peter Giron. Her original music can also be heard in the film Ahyoka River.
